What will I learn?
Our half day courses are a brief introduction to cancer. You will learn about human cells and DNA. We will talk about different tests and treatments for cancer such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
You don’t need to have any experience of biology to take this course, but we will cover a lot of information so it will be challenging.
Please Note, this course is a general introduction to cancer. If you want specific information on one particular type of cancer, please consider booking a private one to one session where you will have more time to discuss issues in depth.
All timings are approximate, you will be sent a confirmation of the times when you book.
- 9:30 am-10: 20 am How is cancer diagnosed? Some common tests.
- 10:30am-11:20 am Cells, DNA and Genes
- 11:30 -12:30 pm Cancer treatments and tests.
- 1:30 pm – 2:20pm How is cancer diagnosed? Some common tests.
- 2:30 pm – 3:20pm Cells, DNA and Genes
- 3:30 pm – 4:30pm Cancer treatments and tests
How will I benefit?
You will gain a better understanding of how cancer develops. You will be better placed to understand the technical terms used by doctors and other health-care professionals. You will also be able to judge news reports about cancer research and know where to look to find further information.
The course will be delivered by short presentations, often with slides.
Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of attendance.
Where is the one day course held?
Our one day courses take place at the Express Holiday Inn in Aberdeen City Centre
£55* for the half day course
PLEASE NOTE PLACES MUST BE RESERVED 1 WEEK BEFORE THE COURSE START DATE. Courses will run subject to numbers and you will be advised at the time of booking if the course is provisional or confirmed.
